Brendan Smith

Brendan Smith is the co-leader of Stout’s Portfolio Valuation practice, where he advises clients operating in the private capital ecosystem on matters related to the valuation of alternative investments. Brendan's clients include sponsors of funds operating in the private credit, private equity, and venture capital space as well as hedge funds, opportunity funds, pension funds, banks, and mutual funds. His experience spans many asset classes, including private credit, private equity, GP stakes, structured products, venture capital, and derivatives.

Brendan started his career at Stout and returned to the firm in its complex securities and portfolio valuation practices after working on the investment team at a growth-stage direct lender. 

Over the course of his career on both the advisory and buy side, Brendan's focus has remained centered around advising and investing in alternative asset classes across the private market spectrum.
