Stout was engaged on behalf of a general contractor to verify the existence of accounting and project source documentation supporting the transactions reflected in its job cost reports for the costs incurred during the construction of a pedestrian bridge project. The costs were included in its counterclaims against a manufacturer and supplier of prefabricated steel bridges due to the delays and increased costs resulting from unanticipated bridge assembly issues caused by the manufacturer/supplier.
We performed procedures to verify the existence and support of accounting source documentation for the transactions and costs included in the contractor’s claim, tested the documentation in support of the costs incurred by the contractor related to the claim, independently analyzed and calculated the claim components, and prepared an expert report of opinions and findings.
Note: This work was performed prior to joining Stout.
