Matthew Kantor

Matthew Kantor is a trusted advisor to private equity firms, portfolio companies, and corporate management teams on complex accounting, financial reporting, and transaction matters throughout the investment lifecycle. With more than 15 years of experience spanning both advisory and industry leadership roles, he brings a practical perspective to helping organizations execute strategic transactions, address technical accounting challenges, and strengthen their finance organizations.

Matthew specializes in helping organizations navigate technical and operational accounting matters associated with M&A, initial public offerings, capital markets transactions, and the adoption of new accounting standards. He also partners with executive leadership teams to execute finance transformation initiatives, enhance financial reporting processes, improve operational efficiency, and build scalable accounting and finance functions.

Matthew’s experience spans both advisory and industry roles. Prior to joining Stout, he served as Controller of a private equity-backed portfolio company, providing firsthand experience managing accounting operations within a sponsor-owned environment. In his advisory career, he has worked with more than 20 private equity firms on over 60 transactions across a broad range of industries, representing aggregate transaction value in excess of $8 billion. These engagements have included transactions ranging from approximately $1 million to $3.5 billion.

Before joining Stout, Matthew was a Director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services practice, where he advised clients on numerous mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, carve-outs, and accounting standard implementation projects. He began his career in Deloitte’s audit practice, serving both public and private company clients across multiple industries.
