Matthew Kantor

Matthew Kantor advises private equity firms, portfolio companies, and corporate management teams on complex accounting, financial reporting, and transaction matters throughout the investment lifecycle. With more than 15 years of experience in both advisory and industry leadership roles, he provides practical guidance on strategic transactions, technical accounting issues, and finance organization transformation.

Matthew specializes in technical and operational accounting matters associated with mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, other capital markets transactions, and the adoption of new accounting standards. He also works closely with executive leadership teams to transform finance organizations, enhance financial reporting, improve operational efficiency, and build scalable accounting and finance functions that support future growth.

Since joining Stout, Matthew has advised more than 20 private equity firms on over 75 transactions across a broad range of industries, representing aggregate transaction value exceeding $8 billion. This experience spans transactions ranging from approximately $1 million to $3.5 billion.

Matthew’s experience includes both advisory and corporate finance leadership roles, giving him firsthand insight into the accounting and operational challenges organizations face before, during, and after significant transactions. Prior to joining Stout, he served as Controller of a private equity-backed portfolio company, where he led accounting operations within a sponsor-owned environment. Earlier in his career, he was a Director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services practice, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, carve-outs, accounting standard implementation, and other complex financial reporting matters. His experience included one of the largest and most complex mega-merger and subsequent carve-out transactions in history, valued at approximately $130 billion. He began his career in Deloitte’s audit practice, serving both public and private companies across a wide range of industries.
