Jason Chao has significant experience providing valuation, tax, accounting, and corporate finance services to public and private sector clients. He has expertise across a range of industries, including telecommunications, utilities, semiconductor, healthcare, oil and gas, manufacturing, distribution, retail, construction, transportation, trucking, restaurants, gaming, professional services, technology, media and entertainment, and financial services.
Jason advises publicly traded and privately owned companies on matters involving transactions, corporate restructurings, business transformation, cost reduction mandates, and strategic growth initiatives.
He helps clients with financial reporting, tax reporting, changes in accounting methods, and corporate finance initiatives involving strategic decision making. He works closely with c-suite executives and their management teams in tax, finance, accounting, operations, and corporate development, in addition to outside counsel, state and local tax authorities, and special interest groups in the context of M&A, bankruptcies and restructurings, litigation, joint ventures, business strategy, and cost reduction/optimization through tax strategies.
Jason leads the firm’s Embedded Software service. He has over 15 years of experience in bringing unexpected and extraordinary cash value to Fortune 100 clients in several industries. This service creates significant indirect and direct tax benefits (e.g., property tax, sales & use tax, income tax) for public and private capital-intensive companies in the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to joining Stout, he was a Partner with EY’s Strategy and Transactions practice in the Los Angeles office. He began his career with EY in 1996. Prior to EY and beginning in 1991, he was with Cooper Industries and Newell Rubbermaid as an engineer in their management training and development program.
