When a large ophthalmology practice was engaged in discussions with a health system regarding a potential acquisition, the practice hired Stout as its valuation advisor. Stout reviewed and analyzed the health system's appraisal and identified several erroneous assumptions that, when corrected, resulted in more than a million-dollar understatement of the valuation. Stout prepared a critique of the buyer's valuation and recalculated the conclusion with the revised assumptions. Our work aided the practice in its negotiations with the health system and resulted in a revaluation of the practice.
