Stout Advises the Founders of Farmy in Growth Financing

November 02, 2020

Stout announced that Swiss online grocery store Farmy AG has secured a new CHF 10 million financing round to expand its business and to strengthen its logistic and tech infrastructure. The capital increase was led by Triodos Organic Growth Fund (“Triodos”) and other investors. The existing investor Dominique Locher, former CEO of LeShop.ch joined the board of directors, as well as Thomas Harttung (Aarstiderne) and Isabelle Laurencin (Triodos). Stout served as financial advisor to the founders of Farmy in this transaction.

In the first half of 2020, Farmy increased its sales by 160% compared with the previous year. With sales of CHF 11.5 million in this period, the young company further strengthened its position as the third-largest online food shop in Switzerland.

Farmy is an online market for the transparent and sustainable weekly grocery shopping. Over 12,500 products are directly offered from over 1,000 regional producers. With unique logistics operations, Farmy’s products are delivered incomparably fresh, within only 15 hours to the doorstep across Switzerland. In the Geneva and Zurich metropolitan regions, service is conducted with reduced emissions via Farmy’s own electric car fleet.

“Farmy created an impressive company with a strong focus on sustainability in recent years,” said Isabelle Laurencin, Principal Investment Manager of Triodos. “Farmy sets new standards on the regional food supply, and we are eager to contribute actively in the further growth and strategic development of the company.”

Tobias Schubert, Co-Founder and co-CEO of Farmy, added: “As a strong mission-driven company, we are proud to welcome on board a highly prestigious and especially sustainability-focused investor in Triodos. We are certain that together we will be able to further add value to all our stakeholders by focusing on our mission – eat green.”

Stout’s Mathis Wilke assisted on the deal, with further support from Stout’s Kevin Kissner, Michael Rezajew, and Nansi Nistorova.
