Valued trademark portfolio of foreign packaged food products
Stout valued a portfolio of trademarks used on packaged food products primarily sold in the Middle East and Africa. More specifically, the trademarks are used on as many as 250 different food products such as various condiments, peanut butter, popcorn, and canned foods. The valuation was performed to assist with the transfer of the assets from a legal entity in the U.S. to a related legal entity outside of the U.S. The valuation was performed consistent with U.S. transfer-pricing regulations pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 482. Stout utilized a Relief from Royalty Method to perform the valuation, relying on royalty rates from transactions related to other comparable packaged food products.
