Licensing negotiations for satellite communications company

Stout was retained to assist in licensing negotiations between a satellite communications company and an intellectual property licensing entity.  The licensing entity approached our client with an offer to license a portfolio for a fully paid up fee.  We performed an evaluation of the licensing entity's valuation and critiqued their methodology.  We also analyzed a number of scenarios to determine the value of the license including modeling a litigation scenario based on varying royalty bases, royalty rates and empirical litigation outcomes.
