Joseph Pochron has more than 20 years of experience in digital forensics, cybercrime investigations, electronic discovery, and cyber incident response. He has investigated or managed thousands of cases involving the collection and analysis of computers, mobile devices, and network and cloud-based data in support of complex litigation.
Joseph routinely consults with clients regarding digital forensics, insider threats, data privacy, incident response, and electronic discovery matters, and he has testified as a digital forensics expert numerous times in local, state, and federal cases.
He frequently provides clients with expert affidavits or forensic reports to support their digital or cyber investigative needs. He has managed the preservation, analysis, and review of electronically stored information in a wide range of matters, including investigations, independent litigation, regulatory compliance, and internal inquiries.
Notable matters for Joseph include digital forensic analysis and expert witness testimony in support of retail clients selling consumer media devices allegedly used to allow for online piracy, providing cyber breach services for a global technology company that required deployment of cyber triage tools and forensic imaging in various countries, and completing an Insider Risk maturity assessment and providing supplemental insider risk program design for a large international bank.
Prior to joining Stout, Joseph was at Nardello & Co. Previously, he was president of the forensic technology practice for a global legal services vendor and managed digital investigations and insider risk for a Big Four consulting firm in the U.S. and began his career in law enforcement, serving as a detective overseeing a digital forensic laboratory in eastern Pennsylvania for 13 years.
Joseph has served as an adjunct professor for several years, teaching college-level courses on digital forensics, cybercrime, and data privacy. He helped start a degree program in digital forensics and was the director of digital forensics for DeSales University.
