James Skara has extensive experience providing accounting and reporting advisory services to public and privately held companies. He advises clients on complex technical accounting matters, including business combinations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, carve-out financial statements, IPO readiness, and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
James has experience across a broad range of industries, including consumer products, industrial products, life sciences, financial services, government entities, technology, media, and telecommunications. He works closely with management teams, audit teams, valuation specialists, third-party consultants, and cross-functional client personnel to address complex accounting issues, support transaction-related reporting needs, and deliver timely, actionable financial reporting solutions.
Prior to joining Stout, James was a Technical Accounting Consultant at RSM US LLP, where he managed teams advising clients on technical accounting and financial reporting matters. His experience included ASC 805 business combination analyses, ASC 842 lease adoption and compliance, ASC 606 revenue recognition, carve-out financial statements, and IPO readiness.
Before RSM, James held accounting and audit roles at Acreage Holdings and Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he gained experience in financial statement audits, internal control testing, month-end close, inventory valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
