Two thousand dollars were awarded to those who demonstrated Stout’s core values and ambitions to help them succeed. Those eligible included sophomore students from an underrepresented population pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a business-related field. They also must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The five winners of the 2023 Diverse Emerging Leaders Scholarship are:
School: Northwestern University
“As a minority going into investment banking, it means a lot to me that Stout supports and invests in diverse students so that they can pursue their academic and professional aspirations. This scholarship will not only help immensely with furthering my education at Northwestern but also will give me the opportunity to explore different areas of business and finance that I’m sure will take me very far in my future career.”
School: Michigan State University
“I am incredibly grateful for this scholarship, which will allow me to focus on achieving my academic goals without the burden of financial stress. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of engaging with some exceptional professionals from Stout. Through these conversations, I have gained valuable insight into their professions and advice that I can apply to my collegiate and career journey. I am grateful for the scholarship and the advice I have received throughout the process to better myself personally and professionally.”
Major: Finance and Business Analytics
School: Indiana University Bloomington
“To me, this scholarship is an opportunity to fulfill my potential and take additional courses in my Business Analytics co-major and Data Science minor without the stress of worrying about the cost of education. As a student, I strive to learn and grow daily; this scholarship will allow me to do so to the best of my ability. Also, this scholarship to me represents an opportunity to succeed academically and represent women in finance at The Kelley School of Business.”
Majors: Law, Philosophy, and Economics; Music
School: Brown University
“I’m somebody who’s always been quite removed from the world of finance and business, whether it’s the family I come from or the school I go to. Therefore, as an arts student with a notably untraditional background, I see this scholarship as a sign of empowerment to use my unique skill sets to thrive in the industry.”
School: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
“This scholarship means the world to me. As a college student, I have constantly grappled with the financial burdens of pursuing higher education. This scholarship not only eases the financial strain but also gives me a renewed sense of purpose and motivation to excel academically. It signifies recognition of my hard work and potential.”
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide young diverse leaders an opportunity to be successful in school and their future careers. By providing financial support, Stout plays an important role in helping each winner reach their goals.
