Multiple lawsuits involving the explosion had been filed over a period of 13 years. Stout worked extensively with the defendant’s in-house and outside counsel to review tens of thousands of documents, analyze intercompany asset transfers, calculate damages under applicable maritime law, rebut the plaintiff's damages expert's calculation of out-of-pocket costs and loss of asset value, and correct the plaintiff’s lost-profits analysis. Stout issued multiple reports offering opinions on damages.
