Valued a portfolio of approximately 20 patents and patent applications for a specialty chemicals company for purposes of resolving a shareholder dispute. The patented technologies primarily related to the use of non-traditional “green” feedstocks for manufacturing polyols used in make products such coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, rigid foams, flexible foams, and plasticizers. For the same company, we separately valued a patent related to the use of dimer fatty acid for manufacturing polyols. The valuation was performed to assist the patent owner to negotiate a license agreement. Stout’s scope of work included the development of potential licensing deal terms representing our value determination, along with the creation of a dynamic valuation model that was provided to the client for use during negotiations.
