Performed portfolio valuation for a private equity firm
Stout provided portfolio valuation services to a private equity firm that invests in early-stage technology and B2B software companies. Our valuation analyses were critical for the firm’s ASC 820 compliance and investor reporting. These valuations and analyses also provided the firm with strategic insight into its portfolio companies, enabling it to make informed decisions regarding risk and performance assessments.
As part of the engagement, we valued approximately 20 different companies with around $3.2 billion in total enterprise value. This included valuation work in the business software and services industry, and each valuation was tailored to reflect the unique characteristics of the companies, such as early-stage growth forecasts, and non-traditional metrics, such as annual recurring revenue.
We provided these independent, third-party valuations on a quarterly basis, ensuring the firm’s compliance with ASC 820 fair value measurement standards and investor reporting requirements. Our valuations and financial analyses allowed the firm to maintain up-to-date and accurate insights into its portfolio’s fair value and facilitated smoother communication with stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and board members.
Additionally, our team engaged closely with the firm’s management to discuss the implications of the valuations and to assist in strategic planning and capital allocation. This collaborative approach ensured that our valuation services met regulatory needs and contributed to the firm’s broader strategic objectives.
