Jim Nutter concentrates on the valuation and cost segregation of renewables and other capital-intensive projects. With over 15 years of experience, he has performed valuations across a variety of industries and purposes. His experience includes working with industries such as healthcare, oil and gas, manufacturing, distribution, retail, construction, transportation, trucking, restaurants, professional services, technology, media, and entertainment.

Jim focuses on the project finance valuation of renewable energy assets, and his experience includes utility and distributed renewable generation. He has performed valuations of projects totaling over 10 GW of grid-connected renewable energy, and he has assisted clients with tax equity transactions, depreciation studies, sale-leasebacks, inverted leases, repowering, and other renewable energy-specific arrangements.

His valuations have been used for financing, book reporting, tax reporting, and insurance. He works closely with investors, developers, and their advisors to understand and establish value throughout the life cycle of a project.

Prior to joining Stout, Jim was a Managing Director at Marshall & Stevens, where he served as the Machinery & Equipment Group practice leader and supported various clients in asset valuation. Prior to working for Marshall & Stevens, he worked at Micor Analytics, a boutique media and technology valuation firm specializing in equipment finance.
