Our Stout experts evaluated claims put forth by a real estate developer for breach of contract, tortious interference, and improper foreclosure on a proposed mixed-use development project located in a midsized U.S. city that is home to a state university and state capital. We evaluated damages for both lost profits and loss of estimated market value of the project, which was to include apartments, hotel, retail, office, and parking. Our assessments included both a real estate appraisal review as well as an economic damages analysis, including an assessment of proposed economic development incentives. The case settled favorably at trial.
