Scott Weingust Recognized as World-Leading IP Strategist by IAM

Scott Weingust, Managing Director and leader of Stout’s Intellectual Property Valuation practice, has been chosen in the IAM Strategy 300: The World’s Leading IP Strategists 2025 list. This is Scott’s ninth consecutive year being listed in the IAM Strategy 300, which recognizes individuals who are leading the way in developing and implementing strategies that maximize the value of IP portfolios.

Scott has almost 30 years of experience providing consulting services to corporations, law firms, universities, and investment firms, primarily in the areas of intellectual property valuation, damages, monetization, and management.

He has provided testimony as a damages and valuation expert in intellectual property-related litigation, including having offered opinions in Federal District Court and Federal Bankruptcy Court.

Scott has valued intellectual property and other intangible assets and determined royalty rates and other licensing deal terms for a variety of purposes, including transactions (licensing, purchase/sale, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions), tax strategy and compliance (related-party transactions, trust & estate issues), corporate strategic decision-making, use of intellectual property for capital raising efforts (debt and equity), financial reporting, regulatory compliance (Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute), and bankruptcy, among others. He has been directly involved in intellectual property licensing negotiations and has developed many dynamic IP pricing/valuation models to inform transactions and investment decisions.

Scott is currently an adjunct professor at DePaul University’s College of Law, where he teaches a course on intellectual property valuation.
