Stout valued the trademarks associated with two famous footwear and apparel brands. The valuation was performed to assist the owner of the trademarks to consider various business models for operating in China. This included entering into a joint venture with a Chinese company or entering the Chinese market without a local partner, which had been its strategy of choice in the past. Stout’s valuation results were used by the client to decide on how to proceed with the monetization of the trademarks in China and to potentially negotiate the license, or contribution of, the relevant trademarks to the potential joint venture. Stout’s analysis included running various scenarios for each potential business model by providing valuation results with different inputs and assumptions.
