Alok Khare

Alok Khare is an economist, statistician, and data scientist.  He is regularly retained as a testifying or privileged consulting expert in the United States and has also been retained in Australia. His work covers class certification, loss causation, liability, and damages in class actions, complex business disputes, and regulatory proceedings.

His experience includes designing and evaluating event studies, hedonic models, and time-series and panel data regression models. He also works with statistical samples and surveys, including consumer comprehension and conjoint surveys, and has assessed whether sample results can be reliably extrapolated to broader populations.

In securities litigation, Alok has worked on more than 40 shareholder class actions and other matters. He has conducted hundreds of event studies and evaluated market efficiency, loss causation, and damages. His analyses cover trading in stocks, bonds, options, and other financial instruments, and he has assessed allegations of market manipulation (including spoofing), insider trading, and cherry-picking.

Beyond securities litigation, Alok has worked on numerous class actions at both the class certification and merits stages. The cases have alleged product defects, false advertising, consumer fraud, violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), excessive or unauthorized fees, and labor and employment claims.

In antitrust matters, including class actions, Alok has analyzed alleged monopolization, price fixing, and exclusionary conduct, addressing market definition, demand elasticity, and overcharges.

In intellectual property matters, he has served as a testifying expert in cases under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), estimated royalty rates in Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) proceedings, and valued patents in litigation.

In other areas, he has conducted disparate impact analyses in fair lending and labor and employment matters. He has reviewed and validated models used by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in an engagement for the Social Security Administration, and performed transfer pricing assessments in tax controversy matters and other litigation.

Before joining Stout, Alok was a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, where he co-led the Securities, Accounting, and Regulatory Enforcement practice. Prior to that, he held positions at Navigant Consulting, AFE Consulting, and LECG, and was a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer in statistics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
