Stout was retained on behalf of the Estate of Neil A. Armstrong determined the fair market value of Neil A. Armstrong’s rights of publicity for estate tax purposes. The valuation was based on the future benefits derived from the ability to monetize the deceased celebrity’s persona or their name, voice, signature, photograph, image, likeness or distinctive appearance. These future benefits to be received are in the form of net revenues from prospective agreements for use of the persona.
