Mike Pace specializes in conducting complex investigative assignments for boards and senior management at public and private corporations, legal counsel, the financial sector, traditional and Native American gaming concerns, and educational institutions. Mike also has significant experience in assisting companies and law firms with post-investigation remediation and compliance procedures.
His experience includes corporate investigations involving allegations of fraud and corporate corruption, theft of trade secrets and proprietary technologies, due diligence investigations, asset location and tracing, corporate contests and activist shareholder defense, and dispute-related fact-finding and analysis. Mike has conducted investigations in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Mike applies a variety of forensic accounting, data analytics, investigative, cyber, digital forensics, and other analytical resources to solve client problems. He regularly presents findings to senior management, boards, and a variety of government regulators, including the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Prior to joining Stout, Mike was a Managing Director at Berkeley Research Group LLC and before that a Senior Managing Director and Global Practice Leader at FTI Consulting. Mike began his career in 1989 as a litigator at an international law firm, handling commercial and civil litigation matters, white collar criminal defense cases, and internal investigations. He also worked as an Assistant US Attorney in Chicago with the Department of Justice, where he spent five years investigating and prosecuting fraud, racketeering, narcotics, violent crime, and other complex cases.
