Gary Cheng is a Managing Director within the Investment Banking group and is based out of Stout’s Hong Kong office.

Gary has over 30 years’ professional experience and has worked in major regions, including the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Asia. His areas of expertise include mergers and acquisitions, target identification in major Asian markets (China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia), market entry strategies, identification of emerging technologies, and integration of assets. Gary’s area of focus is healthcare, such as the pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, and medical technology sectors where he has 20 years’ experience in strategic business development and operational roles. Such roles have included the establishment of Asia-Pacific regional offices for big pharma and biotech firms, organic and inorganic growth strategies, and strategic marketing in regional and global capacities.

Previously, Gary was Vice President of Business Development for Becton Dickinson in the Asia-Pacific region, responsible for acquisitions, partnering, and licensing. He also served as General Manager for Asia-Pacific for Aventis and Vice President for Chiron, Regional Director for Biosite/Alere, and spent 14 years of his early career with Novartis.
