Brittany Shaulis has over 10 years of experience providing forensic and technical accounting services to both public and private-sector clients. She has extensive expertise across a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, airline, banking, real estate, apparel, fitness, telecom, and professional services.
Most recently, Brittany was involved in the financial accounting investigation of a large pharmaceutical company’s acquisition of another large player in the industry. The review involved analyzing five years of accounting data to develop a lengthy list of IFRS accounting violations in more than 10 countries that led to the filing of a substantial report. Brittany was extensively involved in the recreation of the accounting data and analysis to determine the extent of the issues. Ultimately, the company was able to recover damages exceeding $314 million plus interest.
Prior to joining Stout, Brittany worked on a variety of investigations and FCPA cases that required review and analyses of emails and financial documents as well as financial analyses related to inventory, revenue recognition, profit and loss accounts, balance sheet accounts, employee bonuses and expenses, and the analysis of large amounts of data contained in various database systems without the assistance of the client.
Brittany also worked in the oil and gas industry as well as the fitness industry. During her time in the oil and gas industry, Brittany improved inventory processes and warehouse design, allowing for expense/cost write-offs, increased efficiencies, and setup of an active inventory system that successfully tracks hundreds of thousands of dollars in inventory assets all within an SAP accounting system environment.
During her time in the fitness industry, Brittany worked for a company that sells and services commercial-grade fitness equipment. Brittany was responsible for the implementation of an inventory tracking system and the conversion to paperless invoicing, as well as all in-house accounting functions, including but not limited to the following: management of financial reporting, bank and credit card reconciliations, invoicing, collections, human resources, payroll processing, preparation of monthly sales and use tax returns, yearly 1099 preparation and filing, and year-end tax preparation for outside accountants.
Brittany has advanced knowledge of both SAP and NetSuite accounting systems as well as working knowledge of several other systems.
