We acted as exclusive financial advisor to Sezmi in its sale to KIT Digital, a video management services provider based in the Czech Republic.

Sezmi was a well-financed startup that tried to challenge cable and satellite TV operators with a cheap hybrid broadcast-Internet video service, having raised more than $92 million from prominent investors. Sezmi’s service, first launched in Los Angeles, failed to gain traction, resulting in the ultimate sale of the technology platform.

As part of the transaction, KIT Digital acquired 18 patents from Sezmi related to over-the-top platform provisioning in the mobile, online, and digital terrestrial television environments that will help the firm serve more than 2,450 clients across more than 50 countries.
