Sam played collegiate golf at Stetson University in Florida where he studied Finance and was a two-time Academic All-American. Following a successful college career, he persistently and methodically worked his way through the PGA Tour's development tours, earning his Web.com tour card in 2016. After finishing second on the 2017 Web.com tour money list, he secured his place on the PGA Tour for the 2017-2018 season.
Sam has made the FedEx Cup playoffs each year he has been on the PGA Tour.
